I want to assess students' individual work - but group projects inevitably have an unequal load (it's also why I rarely do them). At the HS level we want students to manage this themselves, and parent complaints about these things make it more complicated. My first thought about receiving a message like this would *deep sigh* and if it's not a huge portion of their mark I would likely not be able to do something without the student saying something else themselves. I'd probably monitor it for the future, but for the current project likely nothing would change.
