If the grade is good, then the only point of telling the teacher is to punish the slacker.

And while there may be some satisfaction in punishing the slacker, it's not your responsibility and this person will surely get their just desserts eventually.
If the grade is bad, then there's more cause to protest.
Wait for the grade.
