He's somewhat notorious for having been hired by SNL as a writer, then getting fired the same day because podcast recordings emerged of him doing some racist jokes. To be fair, he isn't so much "average" racist as much as he is a "lazy, terrible comedian who thinks racist stereotypes are funny" racist. But then he became internet famous (as some of the worst comedians in the world today are also some of the most successful podcasters in the world), so he was invited to come back and host SNL, and it was pretty much as lame as you'd expect.
