unfortunately, parents today aren’t usually talking about family emergencies.

it’s school shootings, lockdowns, etc. that are of most concern. phones in schools should not have ringing on (or in some cases aren’t allowed on at all) except during particular times during school days, for regular disruption and safety reasons.
