I think the bare ankles and suits thing started with thom browne some years ago, trendy 20-30’s picked it up.

formal still had coverage until more recently.
I just took a look to see what browne is currently showing, and the seasonal men’s edit is a hoot.
there’s a guy I have followed for years, ceo of a smallish company that works with marketing influencers (fohr), now probably late 30’s, who’s been big on browne - the thought of him wearing much of this is funny. the pants with the long socks on almost anyone except fashion folks or performers?
