Trump was the same....he said stupid shit, but on his own, he can't get anything done. It's the ghouls he brought in, like Steven Miller, who did the damage.

Once Trump is gone, GOP will pretend they're all civil now, but an identical set of people will come indo the administration. Realistically, we're going to have another GOP president, so acting like this is the be all end all election is weird to me. They don't lose and change their ways, they just dig in further.
