i'm a realist, that's why i'll be likely be voting for biden, but we need idealism to move in positive directions as a country.

those anarchist kids who go out and protest and don't vote because they hate all the candidates end up writing policy and doing important other important work. some of the kids from 2020 are now starting to work as public defenders, for social services, in the government, for non-profits. idealism has a place and we should support it, not tell them to "be real"... we all know the reality and it fucking sucks. meaningful wins are few and far between and can be destroyed in a moment by someone in power. we have to hold on to an ideal as a goal that we know we may never reach (like defunding the police)
