They can be inflexible, but are also working off of what they have and what they idealize. Gaza is one that's hard to argue with- if you think there is an active genocide, it's hard to tolerate someone who disregards it or denies it.
Our conversation here is proof that these things are highly emotionally charged. While we're criticizing young people, having empathy for them is important too. They have genocide, climate disasters, reproductive rights all on their minds. It's crushing and makes things feel hopeless. But they do temper with time. The kids of 2020 protest are 4 years older and much different now. They may still hold defunding the police as an ideal, but they're not out clashing with cops any more.
