For the stock price, that's about 30 cents a share in expense with limited money coming in for it.

Given when EPS missing by a penny can sway a stock price by tens of millions of dollars, it's not wise to spend money with limited expectation of making revenue from it.
So, let's say they released in theaters, made $100mil in revenue after the theater cut...that's 25 cents a share in recouped value -- and as shown, people will watch shit at home if they like it; they would still have the library usage of a movie they made for subscribers.
