They got him for at least 5 more seasons -- there's no reason to consider what to do with him until at least 4 years from now.

I'm assuming he gets the full-season of service time for a top-2 ROY finish this year.
They aren't going to make a long-term call on him until a few years down the line but most likely he'll end up traded because there's no reason to expect that he's not a top-5 pitcher in the league at that point and that's a 35mil pitcher a year (now). It won't be cheaper then.
