And so my take is on the record.

I think you keep the player in two scenarios. The first being that there is the likelihood they retire at the end of the season. Even then I probably ask the player what they want. The other being that I'm confident I get more in a comp pick, but that is a GM decision.

In this case I think the owner thought they would be the bad guy (along with the GM) if the trade happened, but Henry would be the bad guy if he signed there after the season. They preferred for him to be the bad guy.
