Timing sounds about right. I've replaced several pumps and currently have one and needed attachments sitting and waiting in case.

Last time one piece was rusted to the pump and could not be removed. Good thing that it was clear dry day when the last one failed.
It's been anywhere from a couple years to 10 or so on the pumps. Lint filled wash water from the washer being the biggest problem - clogs the pump and causes it to fail sooner. Got a lint trap on the washer hose now and the pumps last longer now.
