Questions about booking a cruise

1) Do you use a travel agent or do you book directly with the cruise line?
2) Assuming that you already know the particular cruise that you want, are there any advantages to a travel agent? For example, do they coordinate the various visas, inform you about needed vaccinations, etc.?
3) Do you get travel insurance? If so, any particular things to get or avoid?

Agents typically get you the same rate as direct but they get a % cut as a "finders fee" I believe?

Always always get travel insurance. At least Medical, and cancellation if it is an expensive trip, but make sure you know what it covers. Travel Agent -- (edited)

I book through American Airlines but that's because I earn extra airmiles that way. None of my cruises go places that need extra paperwork or
