It does feel like a modern day takedown of a leader. Caesar fell by 23 different stab wounds from 23 different senators iirc. It does now reveal

another type of incongruity in their actions to the people;

His party pressured him to quit as they felt his mental decline was jeopardising his electability, and are now pushing for his VP to become president even though she thought his mental capacity to lead was absolutely fine. So the people are now being asked to validate their takedown by voting for someone who believed that that takedown was unnecessary.

If there is a message the party are trying to relay, it’s one that escapes me.
