This seems very accurate. I don't like the concept and it's one reason I've avoided them in the past.

But having never experienced it, I guess I'm in the "don't knock it until you've tried it" camp. But I also like being able to pay for extra legroom. Although even there, am I paying for something that's de facto on Southwest?
