Over the last couple of years, during the pseudo-recession, grocery prices went higher with no real cause other than corporate profits, combined with "shrinkflation", the practice of charging the same price for smaller packages. The government's finally done something about it. There's been talk about a bill tackling shrinkflation, although I don't know if that's going anywhere. Ultimately, the fact that one of the grocery chains got dinged for these practices is good news. But I don't know that it solves the larger issues.
