Unsurprisingly, it is all about expectations. You had a vision of what your son's life would be whether that is school, marriage, relationships, etc.

and that vision is gone and replaced with something else. It is ok to mourn that loss but I had to remind myself to find the joy in the new vision. Especially as they've reached high school and our relationships changed to more mentor than anything else. We aren't in control of that vision or their happiness but need to be happy for what they are happy for and sad/frustrated/there for them when they are not. You got this.
