Just my theory but, I've thought, mostly, it seems to be mental. His defense seemed to slip from season start along with his bat. I was thinking something off field.
He is obviously a non-threat at the plate. If I had bet ground ball to the SS every at bat I'd be rich.
I don't dig into metrics but I'd think his defensive play has dropped. Seems less range, more bad throws. He'll still make a gem here and there but he's not a star SS in the field imo.
It's too bad, seems like a good dude but he's definitely broken in a couple ways.
