It was pretty scary in the moment, yes. I was driving a 14-year old civic at the time which had been in 2 fender benders

(the reason for the loose hood was the 2nd accident that had happened about a year prior.)
After I "secured" the hood by tying it down with the strings on a drawstring bag I drove it straight to the honda dealer and bought a new car.
