could be a few things. forward passes are illegal, and it counts if the ball carrier loses contact with the ball during a tackle and it goes forward.

that’s a knock on.
ball carrier also has to immediately release the ball when they’re tackled. they’re not supposed to position the ball in any way, just release, so if they get caught trying to play it towards a teammate that could do it.
last thing I can think is if the ball carrier didn’t roll away quickly enough after the tackle.
should go - tackle -> tackler releases ball carrier -> ball carrier releases ball -> both roll away and don’t impede the play. anything goes amiss in there the ref blows it down.
