I'm a bit of an 80s music and pop culture afficionado, but... And anyway, before 1984 is mostly too early for me.

I would've never guessed that song in a million years - not without googling and being able to think very much "outside of the box", not least early instead of late 80s :-)
Certainly there were samba-tinged songs in the late 80s, but not necessarily with such lyrics AND male vocals..
