as far as that headliine the GOP dug up with Kamala identified as Indian in 2015.

It was from Business Insider which is a news aggregator that collects news articles from other sources rather than report them themselves. They also rarely list the source. The article that was cited most likely came from India Bulletin, Desi Talk or something similar. They see and report Kamala as Indian American and they report her as such. As they do with Nikki Haley as well.
