In the highest grossing films of 2024, the top highest grossing original IP is #12, "IF", then #13, "Bob Marley: One Love".

Studios do what makes them money. "Make money for our stakeholders" is the only mandate of a publicly held company.
It's not that original IP isn't profitable, but 0 movies in the top 10 and 4 movies in the top 20 suggests that maybe they need to look elsewhere.
