I think basketball is a permanent sport and isn't likely going anywhere with so many more countries around the world being much better at it today.

Serbia nearly beat the US and there are a lot of European countries that can compete with us these days. There's much more parity and I think that will keep it in the Olympics for the foreseeable future. Sorry.
