also tied into Jacob's plan to recruit potential successors to protect the island, 1 number for each of the main survivors Jack Kate Sawyer Locke Hugo and 1 more (I'm doing this from memory - Desmond?). These numbers also corresponded to angles on Jacob's magic lighthouse telescope where he could view the lives of these 6 and presumably 354 other people, some of whom could include other people drawn/brought to the island.
It's pretty thin but it's more than just "random numbers boo!"
