I heard about that from people on reddit. Hopefully modern allergy medicine can help people dealing with it today. The docs in the article mention

that his tattoos are also likely exacerbating the issue. Not much he can do about that but if the dye is an issue why not use gloves that use either a different dye or no dye. If Franklin doesn't already make gloves that aren't dyed how hard can it be to pull some before the dyeing process.
