It will be an interesting think to look back at with clear eyes. He was the perfectly right candidate in 2020 and perfectly wrong in 2024.

I didn't even want him to enter the race in 2020. I was annoyed when he did. But he turned out to be what was needed at that time.
And he's been (quietly?) excellent.
