If Monday’s speech was any indication, it was definitely the right call.

I loved “gloves off” Joe as much as anyone, but every stumble would have been held up as proof of his “failure to convince” the electorate he was up for a second term, as contrived and unfair a standard as that is.
And I don’t see anyone being anything but gracious in regards to his legacy. Certainly not “dancing” on anything.
