otoh - and I fully acknowledge any hypocrisy here - I'm fine with Vance/couch jokes despite having no basis in reality just because it's a schtick

(if Vance was smart he might even try to lean into it like hazing as something that gains you acceptance)
If you can be creative and funny with wordplay or, okay. If you're all "har har I made a derogatory alliteration of their name" or "har har I bet he has a small penis" that's just lame ad hominem junk.
p.s. I think celebrity roasts are the lowest form of comedy short of outright 'ism 'jokes'
