More positively, I'd also say that Obama being elected president gave a sense that anyone could be President.

You didn't need to be that experienced or do your time and wait for your turn or belong to a secret club. I think that encouraged a lot of younger candidates that they could find success in politics.
That has helped to build the Dem bench. (And lots of young Republicans have copied the model as well)
