I don't think that's the only reason.

I think people would differ some on yahoo's rankings no matter the scoring. Part of that is their system prioritizes having a full roster, so kickers and defenses are rated too high for most leagues. Another is there are some players people always try and avoid or always try and get, for whatever reason. And most people disagree somewhat on rankings.
