future when someone asks nicely.

It shows the team doesn't keep their word and shows a lack of respect for the player.
I know he asked the family which gave approval but it was a question that shouldn't have been asked in the first place. Some balls to even ask for a retired number.

I think less of everyone from the player to the team for doing this.
