The song is a radio staple now, but when it first came out it was big but culty. Kids everywhere would wear the t-shirts, but no radio, no MTV.

I hated the violin too until the fast solo break. :-) He is playing the part of Metallica lead guitarist Kirk Hammett, who is known for a "singy" style.
