i want to invite them all over for some kind of meal. what do y'all think would be best? usually i serve brisket/pork tenderloin/ribs w/ fixings (pinto beans/tato salad/pasta salads/green salads/desserts) and LOTS of beer. problem is after 5 years doin lemonlaw for GM that job has ended - i no longer have weekday evenings and weekends off (and funds are limited). most of the people i need to show my appreciation to don't work a M-F job either. it would be hard to plan 1 event. should i try to have 3-4 smaller parties over the next few months with a more limited menu? (ex. tacos/fajitas and beer)?
long story short: not long ago i separated from my SO. The move/separation were completely unplanned (domestic violence). the friends i called upon to help were mostly off-duty law enforcement/emts.

Do you have a full day anytime that you could plan some kind of open house.

tacos/fajitas are good. Maybe hoagies and beer. Wraps with a fancy sauce...

proud of you for getting out of that sort of situation! maybe plan one (or two) and for anyone who can't make it, give them a gift card (for pizza?) -- nm
