To the rich and powerful, leaving that group behind. The rich then fed them a constant diet of blame on less powerful groups who were gaining equalizing power.

The dumb original power group believed their own worsening situation was because of the minority groups instead of their own ceded power to the rich and powerful taking full advantage of them.

TLDR: gullible white people bought Reagan’s shit and lost economic power while being told blacks and Hispanics are the reason their wages stagnated a generation ago.
