I mean, they reported it and then they reported what the report said when it dropped. That doesn't seem inappropriate.

Maybe they could have done a better job hammering home that it didn't say that, but I think the news resonated with people on both sides with whatever they believed. I don't think in that case the reporting was the problem. It was more just living in Trump's post-truth world.
