The redeyes are definitely helpful, and they've added some redeyes to Hawaii that are designed for eastbound connections.

So the redeyes from Hawaii aren't really to the west coast, they are to place like Phoenix and Vegas to allow onward connections. for people in the three time zones that are definitely all better than Pacific Time.
