LYC: many thanks to ST for suggestions friday on my thankyou parties

when i said funds are limited i didin't mean to give the impression i was flat broke. i meant to say i couldn't afford porterhouses/expensive single malts indefinitely. i don't post much about my RL but i come from a large family and am kinda used to feeding large groups of people on short notice for not much money.

reading the bbs i didn't realize that so many would think that tacos mean "hard shells". the "hard shell" threads that ensued were pretty funny. i've always thought of tacos to mean either hard or soft shells. around here the most important thing is getting really, really fresh tortillas (flour, wheat or corn). every party i throw i always get some hard taco shells but no one eats them. usually guys go for the fresh tortillas or just dump everything on chips.

tonite i went with tacos/lotsa beer. 3lb grd. round taco meat, 1 1/2 pork picadilla and 3 lb. of chopped slow-cooked chicken breast. served w/ 2 lb velveeta/rotel queso. all the fresh veggies, fresh tortillas. borracho beans, mexican rice, 2 sheet cakes, vanilla ice cream (and fruit/port). some other friends also brought food/beer.

sounds like a lot. really it wasn't. one constant thing about me is everyone who leaves takes a large share of the leftovers. just cuz someones SO had to work doesn't mean we couldn't pack a large to-go care package.

i have next saturday off and will do another one - probably with a brisket(there's a precooked 8lber in the freezer)/carnitas theme.
