Would Gaslight count as noir? B/c what would seem like a big omission. I guess I don't have a good handle on the definition. -- nm

certainly adjacent? on the outskirts? Cukor was definitely on to the trend of the time, influenced by early Hitchcock and the German expressionists. -- nm*

You mean private investigators? Protagonist usually wins in detective films. That's pretty much never the case in noir. -- nm*
