For heat, get a Big Buddy LP heater. They can be safely used indoors if you crack a window. We have a Wave 3 catalytic heater in the RV, which is similar. Electrical heat is not practical, you have little sunshine in winter to recharge.
For power, a decent generator at 3500watts who run you about $800 USD, will power a small AC unit for about 4 hrs per gallon, smaller stuff for longer.
Batteries are nice, but not practical for this. Even my fully off grid friend in Maine runs wood heat and a generator in winter and he's got batteries like you wouldn't believe.
