Granddaughter just thanked me for a wedding gift I mailed over a month ago. It was in a stack of mail "on the kitchen counter"! I've seen a similar stack on her mother's counter and I've seen a bookstore volunteer bring in a huge shopping bag of mail to go through during her shift.

I know I rarely get anything but junk mail but is this the norm these days?

Nobody sends letters. Even wedding invites are emailed. Most pay bills online. So only important things are government - zeitgeist Oct 13, 12:10
