It's not that they're in cahoots. It's that their methodology is flawed and fails to adapt to a changing landscape, much like Nielsen ratings.

Polling services now utilize zero-star polls, which leads to instances like Tim mentioned for aggregating sites. For me, the 2022 mid-terms were the breaking point on polls. I simply no longer believe in their viability. Others like Rex Chapman agree with me.

But the madness of the electoral college makes anything possible with the election. The media's coverage of this as a coin flip places us in the same position as 2016 where the timing of the election will matter. I've said all along that there were maybe 11 days Trump could have won, and the election happened to fall on one of them.

My comments aren't about my opinion inasmuch as what I'm hearing and reading from others about the situation. Factually, the point that gets lost here is that Biden had an 8-point lead on the day of the election. He won by 4.5%. How much of that is margin of error vs. incompetence? From the wide-angle view, it's impossible to say.
