Admittedly it's been 12 years, but Edgewater back then was a bit more affordable than other neighborhoods around there

because there were a lot of drug treatment centers and/or homeless shelters there. I just remember it being talked about, people didn't necessarily talk about the area as bad, just possibly a little dicey (in comparison to surrounding neighborhoods).
I have no clue if that's still the case. And yeah, Chicago is crazy affordable for a major real city.
