let me rephrase then - i think it's disgusting to praise an economy, political party, or country for a "good economy" when they are allowing people

to suffer. And, by their own horn tooting, have more money than ever to spend on fixing the issue. homelessness is literally fixed by providing homes. and it's literally cheaper to provide a home than to care for a person on the street. hundreds of thousands of people isn't "things not perfect for everyone", that's a massive issue.
Saying "oh, well, see, all those homeless people were due to be evicted, it's just delayed so it's happening all at once" is not an acceptable answer. we have a government for a reason - they can't just point at the economy and say "well, sorry, the FREE MARKET must do whatever it pleases, whether that's pitch people out on the street or price gouge on groceries."
i feel like there should be some honesty when we are defending democrats. they're not republicans.. that's why we're voting for them. they allow the same misery to continue that republicans do, they just feel bad while doing it.
this hits very close to home - we have friends right now who are struggling to stay in their homes, who are going without food to pay rent. we do all we can because we have the money to help them, but it makes me sick to see people on the brink like they are. it's not enough to have a "good economy" - people should be able to do more than exist and to live with dignity.
TO BE CLEAR: i'm not saying YOU are praising any of those, but i've seen so many responses to people who are concerned about the economy being mocked for not knowing the economy is "good", despite their personal experience. this is mostly a vent out of frustration and anger over seeing what is happening both to people i know and to strangers.
