All I'll say as a counterpoint is that in 2016, a left-wing hack for that ultra-liberal site whose name I cannot remember famous started his own 538-ish analysis. The dude felt it was dangerous to pretend like Hilary wasn't about to win and argued that his data indicated she was 99% likely to win as opposed to how close the three main polling aggregators at the time saw it. That was NOT a bingo.
But this is the point I've been making about polling for a while: "Simon Rosenberg, a Democratic strategist and polling analyst, said the right wing – as they did in 2022 – is waging an informational war in the polling space and weaponizing the very data that's supposed to bring clarity to voters
And this was the point I made a few days ago: "The "ferocity of effort" involved in making "it look like Trump is winning clearly means they don't think he is," Rosenberg said."
To a larger point, whatever happens, we'll all wake up and our lives will keep going. If we don't like it here, we can go somewhere else. There's an old Simpsons quote about how Mr. Burns could never ruin Homer's life since all he needed in life was stuff like sleeping until noon on Sundays.
I very much understand why they don't, but I wish my friends would breathe and remember this truth.
