"Johnson voted for Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012, but did not vote in 2016, and was an independent voter as of 2017. He endorsed Joe Biden in 2020, but told Fox News in an April 2024 interview that he regretted the decision due to it causing "division" and refused to endorse anyone in 2024. The interview received highly negative reactions, especially parts of it in which Johnson complained about what he called "woke culture", and prompted Vanity Fair to publish an article questioning whether he was pivoting to right-wing politics."
If he had never endorsed anyone as a matter of principal and privacy I wouldn't think anything of it, but the fact that he stopped in the face of division kind of makes me think he backed down from some civic duty because of the impact it might have on his career and financial prospects. My perception is disappointment that he didn't take a heroic stand against criticism (while at the same time knowing my opinion on his opinions are really immaterial).
