Sure feels that way. Someone said how performative MAGA politics is and I can see doing all this for the clicks.

This and the PR stuff could have been a gambit to get the nation to talk about the culture war for a few days rather than more substantial issues. IMHO, it will probably work, just like the eating pets thing successfully got us to talk about immigration for about a week. That it will turn off suburban women as pixie points out is probably factored into the equation and seen as collateral damage.
