My hesitation with that view is that I feel like both sides view this like Avengers Endgame. Last chance to save the world.

I think it's likely we'll feel the same way 4 years from now if Harris wins because some MAGA type will run again (and maybe someone less obviously divisive). I worry we won't have a real chance if she loses (but I'm sure they feel the same way on their side). Perhaps if they lose this time the traditional republicans are able to get a foothold again, but I don't know. The party has been completely remade. In any event I expect high turnout and I hope that will be good for democrats because I think the MAGA faithful is a somewhat smaller number. The key is how much can he pull from outside MAGA (traditional republicans, Palestinian backers, some of the Jewish vote that thinks Trump will give Israel more freedom to operate, black men and Latinos). I don't think he wins a majority of any of them, but it's a question of how much he can pull away from how they previously voted. Similarly for Harris, I think the question is if she can pull enough traditional republicans away from Trump that don't really like her but can't stomach him.
