I liked Aruba, but I wouldn't say I found it different than other Carribean Islands (other than it tends to stay out of the hurricane paths).

Kind of a long flight and flying back was very tough. They had you go through US customs at the Aruba airport, so you had to go through security and then customs and then essentially security again. It took 3 plus hours when we were there. But to be fair this was at least 10 years ago.
