a shotgun mic isn't great for close in stuff. inside, it'll pick up a lot of secondary reflections and make it sound airy/echoey

look at the pickup pattern - great at getting sound from farther away, but has pickup in other directions and gets everything along the way. It's perfect for outside, away from a wall or something.
You want something with a closer pickup pattern that will reject the noise when you're recording in closer quarters.
if you want a wired mic, a Rode NT1 signature or 5th gen will be a good choice. Get a pop filter for it, they pick up a lot of those nice mouth sounds.
If you want a USB mic, Apogee Hypemic is pretty good, but pricey.
For lavaliere, wireless is... fine. But I'd honestly recommend getting the Tentacle Sync system. You sync everything via your phone, then get timecode into your camera recording, use a Track E to record audio, marry it together during editing all snapped together. Track E will record for 10 hours straight on a charge. Pair it with a decent lav, and you've got the ability to chill, record, take your time, and not worry about lining up audio. It's also 32-bit floating point audio, which is absolutely absurd, but gives you the ability to never have to worry about levels. You cannot peak this thing, you are only limited by the physical microphone.
Hope this is helpful!
